Hey all,

We're just giving you a heads up about the server's IP change in the near future. It's currently estimated to take place between May 20th - 31st. Thanks and please post if you have any questions!

Reasons for the IP change:
1. Transfer of ownership
2. An attempt to fix the server crashes

Question: What would you do if the only way to fix the server crashes was to start a new map?

I'm going on a two-week vacation tomorrow, so I'll probably miss most of this debate, but here's my two cents.

Any time you bring up new map, you're going to hear protest from the most dedicated players (especially those who build and farm and work on other long-term time-consuming projects) and eagerness out of newer players (who feel overwhelmed by an already established map) and also older players who have become jaded with the current map.

I build a lot of big event arenas, but I'm also relatively new, but I don't think a new map will totally solve the random crashes (maybe temporarily). I also think the first few weeks of a multiplayer map are by far the best few weeks. So there's that too.

I would be fine with it. So I vote yes, as long as there's about a month's notice.

Yeah, some players are already torn between staying and leaving. At the very least, if a new map is required, there will have been plenty of time to decide what to do.

Personally, here are the events I'd like to see, preferably in this order:
1. Move the current map to the new IP
2. In 1.8, add a world border (let's say 10k on the x and z coordinates)
3. If the server is still crashing, trim the edges of the border
4. If it's still crashing, ask people if they feel it's annoying enough to justify moving to a new map
5. Give a month's notice for the change if people feel one is needed
6. Use the new map with a world border

My ideal solution is to trim down the current map and place a world border for 1.8.

This sounds like the ideal solution. And this way everyone will know its a possibility but only as a last resort. We will try and save the map if can but if we can't then a new map will be needed to keep prospect going.

Out of curiosity, are you guys saving and storing the recent map(s)?

Kris, Raven, and Ima will be in charge. Map isn't going to change during the transition or anything, so it'll all be the same. If you want in on the action, talk to them. Smile

If the map does change, we'll be sure to save a copy of it and upload it. KrisTea79 will be paying for the new server and she'll be supported by a few others.
